When your financial affairs dictate how you feel about yourself as a person, it’s time to consult a financial therapist. Most people in the Western world walk around believing that their self worth is dependent upon their net worth. Not so. After fifteen years of practicing as a Tax Consultant and Preparer, working with artists and self employed people who wanted to be prosperous in their lives and affairs I began to see that what I offered in my “Tax Appointments” was more about a global, spiritual perspective on their financial life than just a dry look at their tax situation. Most people regard prosperity as having lots of money, however true prosperity involves having an abundance of five major things: time, peace, health, friends and money. By applying therapeutic and business management techniques I aid clients in identifying and overcoming the causes of their financial issues.

The world of emotions can be messy. The world of finances seems to be very logical and rational. We used to use our priests, rabbis, imams and teachers as our confessors, to talk about our most intimate lives. And because money has replaced our devotion to a god and has been our all consuming goal to worship we now use our Accountants and Tax Consultants as our Confessors and Confidants. Most Accountants have a difficult time navigating the world of emotions and a lot of spiritual advisors don’t have a handle on their money situation so are ill equipped to advise in that capacity. In my experience it is fear and shame that holds most people back from becoming the persons they sincerely would like to be. Does that resonate with you?
